There are arguments for and against it. Against: the collector is unsuited to his time and seeks a derivative to escape from it. For: Rene Carré, canon, in 1966 advised “to tackle” a good passion; the love of a collection is interesting and enriching from the intellectual or artistic point of view, everything is likely to be collected… Approval is triple: to find something, acquisition when that is possible,  contemplation “.
